With Amazon’s New World releasing at the end of September, the hype train has officially left the station, and if you haven’t already it may be time to start asking yourself if you should be on it. As long as here are no more delays, New World is looking to get off to a real good start. The beta ended with a whopping one-million rough unique player count, and content has been flooding the internet ever since. From weapon guides, to new content speculation, newcomer stumbling seeing all this content hit YouTube or Reddit would think this is an existing game with an established community. You almost couldn’t fault some one for considering it as such, if you assume that all players in the beta return (or most, and judging from the public reaction to the beta they most like will), then consider the hype generated by the success of the beta, we could be looking at a launch with an active community that rivals that of Final Fantasy 14 or possibly even World of Warcraft. I do not think this an unrealistic expectation here either, as there is a lot to be excited about: opt-in open world PvP, large scale community events, massive and dynamic world, and best of all its a new MMO that actually seems to have been given some real thought, time and effort.
If you haven’t heard of New World, then you may have noticed all the videos and other content popping up all across social media related to it. One symptom of a healthy game community is a vibrant online smattering of guides, “let’s plays”, and “funny moments” videos on YouTube. If you were to go there now and have a search for “New World” you would come up with enough content to entertain you until release day….and then some. Let’s say watching YouTube videos isn’t enough to hold you over until release? Well you can plan out your entire build path, all the way through to end game (Gearing Included) with the MULTIPLE character builders currently available all fan made. (https://newworldfans.com/builds/new, https://worldforge.gg/). You’re all prepared with you’re build? You’ve garnered all the information you can on preparing for New World? Well how about getting prepared for upcoming content? Reddit along with a few other social media outlets are buzzing with leaks and information about upcoming areas and weapons in the months or even years following the games release. That’s right, New World isn’t even out yet and you can start getting hyped for the post-release content. The community is absolutely buzzing about hitting the ground running at release and now is the opportune time to get in on the buzz early. There is even already a discord (https://discord.gg/fhX3MGgvkM)
If the one-million strong unique player count in the beta is any indication of player count at launch, then we can expect a bloodbath when everyone starts getting the option to flag for PvP, or a doozy of a competitive market for all the crafters out there. If you’re after the group PvE content well you can expect to have your pick of groups come end game. If the Amazon continues to deliver on it’s promise of an engaging MMO for both the PvP and PvE community we can expect the player count to grow for quite some time. New World’s opt-in PvP feature will allow one server to contain all aspects of the game, instead of PvP and PvE servers you can experience both at your leisure. This will allow the player base to mix more leading to more populated servers and a more diverse community on those servers. These diverse server will attract all sorts of guilds, many of which will attempt to take part in all the content available to them, meaning we will have players dipping their toes into aspects of the game they wouldn’t normally. If this idea holds rue we can expect a much more enriching experience across New World’s activities from large scale sieges to small group dungeons. Crafting will also play a huge role, allowing those who wish to solely focus on gathering and crafting various of the item players will need in the worlds. These crafted items can be sold at markets to these other players. Markets however will be bound to the settlement that they are a part of, so it could be advantageous to travel to different destinations to distribute your goods. Crafting could end up being a full time job for those willing to take up the task.
There really is a large amount to do in New World for vast majority of all the different types of content seekers out there. The large and building community and the vast wells of information on the interweb make it easy to form a plan, and join the community before Amazon’s New World arrives. If you ever wanted to be a part of a major online game during it’s launch, this could very well be your chance.
